Oh yes Mrs Graham, we'll demonstrate our physics experiment for the oral exam in mechanical physics 101. The force from the rope strangling you equals the force of gravity pulling you down. Meaning if the weight of the body increases, the strangulation force increases. Hence a heavy girl strangles faster than a lighter girl. If we apply some extra force, for instance by pulling your legs downwards, the force from the rope will add at exact the same amount and strangle you faster and more painful. If we lift you slightly upwards, the force from the rope will decrease proportional and you will strangle slower and less painful. The total amount of pain is the product of the momentary pain and time it takes for you to strangle to death. Our theory is that the total amount of pain is constant. We'll measure the pain by logging your heartbeat, electronic measurement of muscular activity in your face, thighs and groin, and the. Which of the two experiments shall we carry out Mrs Graham? Mrs Graham? You're not answering! Ok, then we'll carry out both. We'll just hang you to an inch of your life in the first experiment, take a little lunchbreak while you recover and then carry out the second experiment. Then we'll start all over again after an hour. As we all know we have to repeat the experiment several times to get significant results. Ready? Here we go...

OK, now I'm curious. ;) Great text BTW. Got me thinking: How would this work out on the moon, where the gravity is so low? I'm guessing that you could have some super long hangings there, perhaps lasting hours instead of minutes. Mmmm, now that would be a story... :)

Just imagine the verdict....."I sentence you to be transported to the moon and hanged by the neck inside the spaceshup until you die of slow strangulation, dehydration or exhaustion....".

Awesome idea! For all the choking aficionado's, a special trip to the moon would be the off worlds best day out! You could actually enjoy your own hanging without kicking the bucket (well actually you have to do that...) in a few seconds! From 100 kg to 17 kg. Longer experience and a high survival rate. Wonder what the moon's athmosphere does to human bloodflow?...

Well, you could have any atmosphere you wanted inside the ship. Cut down on the O2 and increase the CO2 to get that sweet, sweet asphyxia high.;)

By the way they only got a "B" om the exam because  of their lack of exact calculation of pain. And they were hanged of course for killing their physics teacher as she didn't make it through the third parallel of the measurements....

Haha! That goes without saying. 🤣👍 Also one of my fantasies: a very strict boarding school, but with limited space. Everyone that does not make the best 10% during the exams gets hanged for the pleasure of the schools sponsors.
